Help, accedentially deleted usr folder

Now my macbook won't even get to the login screen. What should I do?

Did you empty the trash?

If so, you'll have to reinstall from the OS X discs or backup.

No, actually I was trying to pull it out of the trash when the macbook stopped working and I restarted it. Do I still have to erase and re-install?

Maybe not, you might be able to recover it using the Terminal in single-user mode, but I'm not sure of the commands - or if it will even work. Reinstalling will be the easiest way.
