I just tried to fire up "Activity Monitor" for the first time on my new Macbook Pro. When I clicked on the icon it automatically transferred itself to the dock and then just sat there "bouncing" for about ten minutes without initiating. When I tried to open another application this also failed. When I tried to shut down the machine it hung and I had to force a power-down by pressing the power key for five seconds. Little help?

Since restarting, have you tried a second time? ...Just make sure any open documents/files are saved.

I've just tried again and now it works fine. Maybe something to do with it being fired-up the first time on a brand new machine?
