Couple issues. I have been playing with my airport extreme configurations and now I don't know what the heck happened. In fact, I don't remember everything exactly...more high level than anything.
I have been trying to play and improve performance with my wireless airport extreme. I bought the latest and greatest extreme brand new a few months ago. It has been working very well since about a day ago. I am trying to figure out signal to noise ratios. I noticed that my current signal is -59 and noise is -96 according to my airport admin utility which is connected to my router. I am about 30 feet from the router as I type this and is inside a closet. I don't think being inside a closet is an issue since it is surrounded by drywall and studs. I am trying to learn about signal/noise ratios and this seems to have not enough signal and way too much noise. Would you agree? I have adjusted the channels from 11 to 6 as well as to 3. I have not experienced good reception since so I changed it back to 11.
I have downloaded the latest iStumbler, but this makes it more confusing as it tells me my network is 56% signal and 9% noise. My place is a garden unit in Chicago and noticed recently that it is humid down here. My bed feels wet when I went to bed last night (It wasn't me...I swear!). I don't know if anyone has added any devices (cordless phones, etc) which could cause interference to my signal lately to cause this.
Another problem I am having now is I suddenly can't connect, nor my roommate via our windows PC. I am typing this on my brand new MBP SR computer. I have checked my interface settings and noticed it was trying to connect via WEP....so I changed that to WAP instead. Still didn't work. I am not rejecting any MAC addresses so anybody can connect if they know my WAP password. I am stumped here too. GRRRR!!!
Can anyone give any advice??
