Hello fellow Mac Users,

I'm really in a Bind... I ordered a Miglia AlchemyTV DVR from the Apple Online Store, And Yay it came today, However I have not been able to succsesfully run it after Installation,... (-correction-) after several-plus unsuccesful installs... The program just crashes and I have to FORCE QUIT, has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone know of a succesful solution?

In case you are wondering I'm running on a system with all software/hardware requirements, so as far as I know that is not the issue here... PLEASE any input would be greatly GREATLY appriciated...

Thanks Again, Aldaris

Active internet connection?

Make sure you have the latest update from miglia.com. (2.2.3 I believe).
Any versions before that look for a new version on startup, and when my DSL was out, it took something like 5 minutes before the beachball went away and I saw the TV window. (the latest version only checks once a week). If the 2.2.3 installer crashes, trash the file-- Home/Library/Logs/Install AlchemyTV DVR Log. Could that be it?

You tried repairing permissions, etc?

Unfortunatly I have, I am currently trying to Install 2.2.3 and Trashing the file log in my Library the minute it shows up... but then the App stops bouncing and it just sits there with the APPLICATION NOT RESPONDING, and then I FORCE QUIT and try again... This is not quite what I expected after reading reviews on various sites... Arrrggg...

Is there a way I could maybe use terminal to install it? what would the command be... (I'm a video guy not a hacker guy... no offense to any who take it)

[Edit] Oh yeah, I have tried REPAIR PERMISSIONS But I'll try it again

Thanks again, Aldaris

My other idea is this:

The software really isnt perfect. After just messing with mine, I realize that after you launch the app, it will stop bouncing, and it wil sit. and not respond. Not as long as if it is trying to find an update, but it does take a minute before it actually opens (ie. shows AlchemyTV DVR menus in the menu bar, etc). I have no clue why it does this.

So open the AlchemyTV DVR app, and let it bounce and sit while you go make yourself a sandwich. See how its doing in a few minutes. I know. We are not used to waiting.

If all else fails, you can always call up Miglia and demand answers.

Hope this helps.

Thank You diddy!

Thanks diddy!
The software finally installed! (I'm pretty sure it was the internet connection, personally...) Hopefully it will run great from now on!

Thanks again I greatly appriciate all your help!

Like the Card?

How do you guys like your card? I'm running it in a G4 Sawtooth upgraded to a 1.2 GHZ... and I'm so thinking about trying to sell it on ebay. I mean.. I can get the Pineer for just a bit more money than I spent on this card and it has mpeg 2 decoding along with a built in editor. Other than watching TV... I can't get the recorder to work on mine at all. It records.. but the frames are choppy. I have to buy QuickTime Pro to edit as the editor that's a plug in works... but then the program crashes when I go back to save it. I just wanted something that would replace my VCR and this just doesn't seem to do that yet. What's stopping me is that i'm still in OS X.2.8 and I'm thinking that may be causing the bugs. How is the card working for you two?
