So I was chatting through iMessage on my Macbook tonight, and I noticed the messages weren't coming through on my phone (iPhone 6, iOS9) as well, as they normally would. I tried sending a couple messages on my phone and they were hanging, so I tried restarting my phone (powered it down and turned it back on again a couple mins later). When I turned it back on, all of my iMessages were completely gone.

Now I have YEARS worth of texts/iMessages on my phone, many of which I was wanting to keep. I've tried turning my phone off and on a few times now thinking it's just a glitch and they'll reappear, but nothing....and it's been a couple hours now. I'm starting to get quite alarmed.

Does anyone know what would be causing this? And more importantly what the solution is?? I definitely didn't delete all messages.

Note: If I search a contacts name via the Search home screen, the last couple messages for that person will appear, so it seems the messages are still on my phone. When I click a given message however, it takes me to the iMessages screen that lists all convos and nothing is there. The other thing is my phone was fairly maxed out on space...and still appears to be that way. If the convos were truly deleted I would have expected a LOT of space to be free'd up. I guess that's one good sign...

But...HELP?
