It seems whenever I attach a photo in a forum it shows up as upside down. I tried 2 different forums and 2 different browsers.

I just got this MBP i5 and so far all of my attached photo's are inverted. I even inverted the photo's in photoshop and reattached them and the still show up inverted.

All photo's I used were from my iPhone4.

I will attach two here. One that is not from my iPhone (truck) and one that is (generator).

Here's another test. My finger is pointing to which way the home or camera button is facing.

It appears I need it pointing to the right for them to attach correctly. But why do they look right side up on my screen before I attach them?

That's weird.
  1. I click on the attachment, it opens in a new tab, inverted
    attachment.php
  2. I drag it to my desktop and open it with Preview. It looks normal in Preview, but inverts when I upload it.

  3. I save as a .jpg and it looks normal in Preview, but inverts when I upload it.

  4. I save as a .png and it inverts in Preview and when I upload it.

  5. I flip horizontally and vertically and save as a .png, it looks normal in Preview and when I upload it.

Photo's 5 and 6 are the only ones attached that are right side up.

You, sir, are a genius.

I hear that a lot :)

Here's the e-mail reply which prompted my reply:

Ok then, thanks for the help
I meant you responded to my post while I was editing it. I was attempting to explain to aCondor why your post seemed obvious after I finished editing, but was a reasonable question before.

What app are you using to view them on your screen? Preview? or another?

I used mail, preview and photoshop.
I was wondering if either the camera or Photoshop had an auto-invert or auto-flip setting for displaying pics, so they would appear correct, even though the actual image is recorded inverted.... or vice-versa... or something!

iphone attaches some orientation data to the picture. Photo editing software should be able to read this and display it correctly, whereas browsers can't use this info.
