Hi,

Just to explain what I have been up today so you have some background:

  • Installed a new 512GB SSD in to my iMac 27" Late 2012
  • Ran Recovery HD to re-install OS X Yosemite
  • Used CCC to restore my previous OS X Yosemite installation
  • Started BootCamp Assistant to create my Windows Partition
  • Used a WinClone image to restore my previous Windows installation
  • ALL GOOD SO FAR! :)

  • Mac OS X boots without any problems
  • As does Windows if I use ALT to select it from BOOT or RESTART
  • However... BootCamp does not show in my Start Up Disk
  • When I use ALT at start up Windows is listed as EFI PARTITION

  • If I run diskutil list I get:

    /dev/disk0

    #: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
    0: GUID_partition_scheme *512.1 GB disk0
    1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
    2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 391.3 GB disk0s2
    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3
4: Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP 120.0 GB disk0s4

  • BUT if I run sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0

    I get:

fdisk: could not open MBR file /usr/standalone/i386/boot0: No such file or directory
    Enter 'help' for information
    fdisk: 1> p
    Disk: /dev/disk0geometry: 62260/255/63 [1000215216 sectors]
    Offset: 0Signature: 0xAA55

    Starting Ending

#: id cyl hd sec - cyl hd sec [ start - size]

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1: EE 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63 [ 1 - 1000215215] <Unknown ID>
    2: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused
    3: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused
    4: 00 0 0 0 - 0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused

I used to have a 1TB drive before the 512GB SSD... is this what I am seeing from the FDISK P?

How can I resolve this so that it matches DISKUTIL LIST?

I also want to do the following:

  • Be able to see BootCamp in Start Up Disk
  • Using ALT on boot up see Windows listed and not EFI PARTITION
Help me please! :)

Thanks
Jon

Sorry... to add... if it helps! :)

My original OS X "Macintosh HD" was an external Thunderbolt connected SSD and BootCamp was installed on the internal 1TB HDD....
