Hello all,

I purchased a new macbook today. It was new, but the old non-unibody version and everything seems absolutely fine, accept that the battery is behaving in a really odd way.

Weird things:

1. Before turning it on for the first time, I pushed the battery indicator button on the bottom of the computer and nothing happened

2. When plugged into power the machine booted up, however it stayed on 0% charge for about 45mins and has now reached 25% after being plugged in for 4 hours.

3. The charge time indicator has constantly said 10 hours and does not change even though the battery is supposedly charging

What I have done

1. I checked in the system profiler and it says that the battery is in 'good' condition, and that it has had 0 cycles

2. I have rebooted a couple of times to no avail

3. I have run the apple hardware test and everything came back OK

My thoughts

1. the machine could have been sitting in the stock room of the shop for months at this point, perhaps the battery has totally discharged?

2. there is perhaps a fault with the battery?

3. could this be an issue with the computer, or would a new battery fix the problem?

Does anyone have any advice that they could give?
