Help buying a new camcorder

The time has come to replace my old Canon ZR-40 from 8 years ago:)

I was at the store today looking at the array - i like the flash models the best, looking at HD, but nothing too expensive, 400-600$ range.

One model in particular i liked was the Canon HF-M30 (or the less expensive HF-R10)

I was curios if anyone had any experience using these models with a Mac. Any other model suggestions would be very much appreciated as well.
