Help! Cable and recording emergency!

So i just bought my MacBook Pro 13" 2.4.
I was planning to use it for recording. Thinking the interface i already got would connect right up to it. But it turns out that the firewire cable for the interface (1394) Doesn't fit in, and i wasn't aware of this. The Mac only take an 800.
So i looked online and i found an adapter for Both ends of the firewire cable. So it can connect straight into my Mac and the interface. Would this cable still work perfectly fine without making anythign mess up or lag at all? Or what..

you will need a fw800 (male) to fw400 (female) adaptor by the sounds of it. there will be NO lag from doing this.

thats the one man! however you could probs find a cheaper one for $5 off ebay etc, 99% of the brands will work.

haha its a terrible feeling hey i purchased some RAM that wasnt compatible with my Mac. i died

I have the Belkin cable and works great, but you can find a cheaper one on ebay...
