Help! Can't find Install OS X Mavericks or InstallESD.dmg

This is so bizarre! I used the App Store to download the installer to my SSD. I know it's somewhere on my drive because my free space decreased by about 5GB.

But no matter what I try I can't find the installer files. Nothing in my Applications folder, nothing anywhere else with hidden files showing. Nada! Does anyone know where Apple stores these mysterious files? I'm baffled!

Did you try to re-arrange the icons in your finder window. Sometimes a newly downloaded app is hidden off to the side.

I keep a clean desktop but I did that anyway, no luck. And, BTW, the App Store tells me it's downloaded and I can open the installer in Launchpad and get it to begin the installation process.

Forgive me for asking the dumb questions:

/Applications or your home folder's Applications?
Checking for the file after the install?

Anyway, it's downloading to my /Applications, and if all else fails, Finder search bar "OS X Mavericks" with the filename option will (should) find it.

ADD: Oh, and: after it downloads, the installer should be in the dock, so, can do a right-click on it and execute Options > Show In Finder

FINALLY a good answer! The right click in dock works. I hadn't seen it there before because I have 100 apps in my dock.

The path for a future Google search is:

Macintosh SSD/Volumes/Install OS X Mavericks/Install OS X Mavericks.app
