help, I did something stupid. While trying out ways gain RAM I moved my photo library into the trash. I pulled it back out and now iphoto doesn't detect my photos and I can't find them. Help!

Can you see the file you put back? If so, instead of opening iPhoto, double click on the file you put back. iPhoto may have created another library.

Do you use time machine or any other form of backup?

you deleted your iphoto library in hopes of gaining RAM?

please do not think about touching any folders/files that you did not yourself create. compare the sizes of the 2 iphoto libraries, and whatever one is the larger should reside in the ~/pictures/ and stick that iPhoto library in there. You should then go to your applications folder, and hold option while opening iphoto, choose the iphoto library folder that was discussed earlier.

The default location for the iPhoto Library is inside the Pictures folder inside your user folder. Put the iPhoto Library back in that specific location and iPhoto will automatically find it and open it when you launch iPhoto.
