The cd drive on my ibook refuses to open when i press the eject key. the eject symbol comes up on screen, and any cd/dvd in the drive ummounts but the actual drive won't open.

If i manually eject the drive (by putting a pin into the eject hole) it opens up no problem. So I don't think its a hardware problem (or is it?)

Anyone had this problem before, any suggestions?

Thanks guys

Not sure what was suppossed to happen when booting with the mouse button held down, it looked like a normal boot.

The CD still won't eject.

Also i forgot to add that when trying to ejct the CD when there is a disc mounted, the system makes this beep sound

If you restart the computer with the mouse button held down from the beginning, then the CD media should eject. If it doesnt, then its most likely a hardware problem.
