Help.
Click on help for anything mac: like safari or finder and I get 'not available' or jus no response.
Going into system Core services to find the app and clicking gets: application HelpViewer can't be opened. -1712
I finally opened the 'helpviewer app' via show package contents and click on the terminal like icon for help viewer. This popped up terminal and then the help viewer finally opens. But you can't close the terminal.

Obviously this is not the way one is supposed to get help. You need help to even get to the help. Does anyone know how to fix this?

This isn't my mac, its the one at work, so I do have limits on what I can do. But I can't find anyone else with particular issue.

sorry, but have to ask this: have you rebooted? the help center wouldn't open for me (maybe a year ago), and a restart brought it back.

just a (small) thought...
