Help Choosing Graphics Tablet for iBook G4

Okay, I am a total noob here but I need some help choosing a graphics tablet. I teach math and science and want to use the graphics tablet in place of an overhead. Also, I was wondering what software would I need to use to convert my writing to text using like MS Office 04. A large space to write would be good since it will be for notes and math problems etc. Thanks for the help
