went to college and was told of the deal they are offering.. they are selling Microsoft Office 2008 for mac - €71.95 or
Office Mac Pro 2004 - €93.85

good value, i know, but which one would you choose and why?

2004 at that price you are joking right? I'd choose iWork '08 oh yeah.

I'm with SpookyLars on this one - Neo Office all the way, and you can't beat the price :) Great app, as well, into the bargain. Winner!

If you can get Office 2004 at any reasonable price, grab it. Functionally, it's far ahead of Office 2008 or iWork. (iWork is easier for simple tasks, though.)

I like office 04 more because it is faster and less bloated. I have not really found anything in 2008 that really makes me want to use it.

I actually prefer Office 2007 in Windows. It does take some getting use to but i like the way it is laid out and runs.

If you have an Intel Mac, get Office 2008, because it is written for Intel/Leopard.

Google Docs works well. And it makes sharing files really easy with people in a group. If you don't need all the bells and whistles that the other programs have, it'll work fine. Everything's Office compatible and set up almost exactly like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I'd use it to complement iWork or Office, but you could use it alone.
