Apologies for the long post. I am not very educated in computers. I have a few questions which should help me decide on which to purchase. I appreciate any responses, thanks.

The two machines I have in mind are the following

21.5 inch iMac
3.6ghz i7
16gb RAM
256gb SSD
Radeon Pro 560 4gb

27 inch iMac
4.2 ghz i7
16gb RAM
256gb SSD
Radeon Pro 575 4gb

My questions

1. The 27 inch machine has about 50% more pixels - are the processor and graphics card I have selected sufficiently (50%) more powerful so as to run the display at a similar quality? Should I opt for the top end 27 inch model with twice the video memory?

2. One of the main factors for me is fan noise. Will the faster processor graphics card produce more heat or is this offset by the extra physical space in the 27 inch machine?

3. A more general question - I understand this is often based on situation - but assuming the slowest CPU and graphics are sufficient in terms of power, which is the best choice for minimising heat? Will more powerful components have to work less and so produce less heat or do they by nature produce more heat regardless of their workload?

Thanks in advance.
