Hello everyone, I am so happy I've found you guys at this forum! I'm having some issues with my MacBook Pro 15" that are compromising a trouble-free life ;)

My MBP is pre-unibody (late 2008), running 10.5.8, 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 250 GB HD, 2.66 GB of SDRAM. with an optical disc drive.

1st problem is with the console utility (didn't happen until I got this back from being worked on). At 5PM/17:00 every day & AGAIN at 5.45-6:00PM/18:00, 2 or 3 console screens pop up onto my screen - I believe its the console log (which shows items from 2010?), another log & the SYSTEM log. HOW/WHERE can I TURN it OFF so it doesn't pop up anymore??? Here is a sample of what it is showing-->
*-the astericks are actually in place of my user name

I have done a fair bit of research on deleted apps, and I had Skype Extender, as well as Clam AV installed, but didn't delete them the proper way. So the remnants that were left I dug up in finder & deleted them. I closed any remaining programs & rebooted - and this is what I GET NOW in place of the SkypeExtender bit (the 1st top bit)

Any help or advice would be so greatly appreciated!

The 2nd main issue is not with a software utility, but the optical drive itself. I have put any number of different types of discs in (CD's, DVD's, blank discs, etc.) It accepts the disc, holds it inside for around 7 seconds or so, then spits it back out. I'm completely at a loss as to what this could be! I read the advice in the other thread that is old now concerning this, about doing a SAFEBOOT, then depending on the laptop (in my case), run the 2 items mentioned for Intel. I haven't done anything yet as this is something I'm unsure about, so I'm really hoping someone will be able to give me advice on this. What should I do now? What should I do next? My profiler DOES recognize the CD drive so that's a start. Where is this compressed air at? Should I try a cleaning the DRIVE with brushes? with the liquid that is provided?

So, I hope that this wasn't too long, my apologies. I'm new here and I'm really hoping for assistance, and in return I hope I can assist someone else in any way I know how to! I've been through my fair share of MAC issues....which reminds me, my caps lock button doesn't work, the MAC shop here said they had to fit 2 new, different keyboards in before they could get the keys to work (with the exception of that one!) I've read that one can take his/her keyboard out, perhaps for cleaning, etc. In addition the ESC key is not sitting right! I know that's another whole story though, along with the keyboards ambient lights flashing on & off!!!

Thanks so much in advance, I really would be so appreciative of all the help I can get with this! :D

Kind regards,
Jen
