Help Creating New Disk Image

I have created new disk images before using the disk utility. But this time something new occurred. I go to disk utility, give it a name, size, etc. I am creating the space on 1 TB time capsule. I am seeking to create a 100 GB disk. I already have one that is 10 GB. So, when I click create, it the process freezes up and nothing happens for about 3 minutes. Then a message "server disconnected" shows up and I have to reset the time capsule. In short, it won't allow me to create a new disk image. Has this happened to anyone, and if so, how did you rectify it?
