I have a Sony Hi8 tape that has a crinkle in it. It seems to be most of the tape. I get snow type noise in the middle of the screen. Sometimes its at the top or bottom of the screen.
I've brought about Hi 8 tapes into iMovie with little trouble.
This is the first tape of my kids when they're very young. A "priceless" tape.
Is there anything I can do to improve this tape?
It is physically damaged. It seems to play a little different each time I play a section.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might consider a video recovery service. There are companies that specialize in this sort of thing. Since it's very valuable to you, I would suggest looking into their services first, before trying anything drastic.
