My friend bought 2 used iBooks and he needs help deciding which one to keep and which to sell.

Number one has...

800mhz G3
A brighter, crisper screen
No scratches
But it makes a clicking noise when opening programs
And has OS 10.1

Number two has...

700mhz G3
A few scratches
And is very quiet
Has OS 10.3

I say the 700. That clicking noise would bother me, and worry me at the same time. I wonder if it is a HD problem?

sounds like the HD might be on it's way out, other than the extra 100mhz the 2 ibooks are identical keep the 700

the 800. Brighter screen and no scratches... those problems would bother me on the 700. Plus the obvious 100 mhz, plus twice the VRAM and a better graphics card on the ibook 800.

Hard drive on the 800 is getting ready to die, so take the 700. When are you ever going to notice a 100mhz performance increase anyway?
