Hi all,

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to technical things

I just got an external HD to free up my hd on my macbook ... however I don't have my macbook with me at the moment but wanted to transfer some old stuff from my imac (circa 2003)

So I plugged in the drive (iomega prestige 500gb) and was following the instructions to format it. The guide book said the drive is formatted NTFS and I would need to re format to Mac OS extended journaled.

So I am going through the steps to make one partition, at this point when I plugged the drive in it was on the desktop and then when I went into disk utility there was the drive and one volume... so I was in that volume doing the partition stuff...

But then I noticed I had not clicked "partition 1" instead of current

so I stopped the process...

This made the volume vanish from the desktop and now in disk utility I can only see the disk and nothing underneath ....

Have I killed the external hd?

please help!!
