I deleted pictures and movies from iphoto library in finder.I emptied trash. Now iphoto on opening sends alert saying can`t find pictures, because original is missing, then beach ball freezes iphoto. I now realize this is a no-no but where do i go from here?

no backup ugh I`ll check the camera in the morning to see if they are still on the memory card, probably not.
