Resolved HELP Dropbox ate my hard drive

I just got a new machine for work, and as part of setting it up I installed dropbox. Now the entire drive, plus the Documents, Desktops and Downloads folders, are stuck in Dropbox and I can't get them out. I tried going via selecting sync in dropbox and unticking, but that doesn't work. I also tried uninstalling Dropbox but then the Documents, Desktops and Downloads folders become inaccessible.
