Hi all. I'm pretty new to Filemaker and am stuck on what is probably a pretty easy problem. I'm trying to get Filemaker (9 Advanced) to print documents in Microsoft Word for which I have (a reference to) the file stored in my Filemaker database. I need to be able to print to Word 2003 & 2007 on PCs. And, ideally, I’d be able to print to Word 2004 on a Mac, and implement a find and insert page numbers in the footer for both Macs and PCs. Other than the ideal solution of being able to add the page count in the footer, the documents are good-to-go as is (i.e. I don’t need to import data from any fields in my database, etc..)

I’m assuming that I can use applescript to print to Word 2004; however, I can’t figure out the best solution for a PC. Is creating a script with “Send Event” that I insert VBA into the best/only way? (I’d be glad to use something other than VBA, since I’d have to learn how to use it.) I know that on a PC the “Send Event” has the option of printing a document, but, frankly, I’ve only been able to do this when directing it to a specific file and haven’t been able to do it from a calculation. (And, this also leaves out the find and page #s.)

I’ve searched through all of the Filemaker books and web sites I can find and haven’t seen any solutions, so any advice is greatly appreciated!
