HELP: Final Cut Express 4 quits when trying to import from Canon HG20

I just got a Canon HG20. When I try to import the video to my computer in the Log and Transfer page, FCE unexpectedly quits. I can preview the video in FCE and I can import it to imovie '08 and edit it just fine. I don't know what the problem is. I have a Macbook Pro 2.16ghz, 3gb RAM, 10.5.6, and FCE 4.0.1. The HG20 is listed on Apple's Support Documents as a supported camcorder.

Any suggestions???
