Help finding and copying file types

I am using OSX lion 10.7 on an MBA 11

Can anyone tell me the step by step procedure to locate and copy all types of one file (like excel spreadsheets or docs)....to a new folder on my desktop? I will then move that folder to a USB stick. My excel sheets are in a Bunch of folders and I can't remeber where they all are.....

Just do a Finder search for files with that extension. Then select all the search results and drag them to whatever folder you choose.

Thx...was getting stuck using spotlight....

Thx...was getting stuck using spotlight....

Spotlight is very limited compared to Finder for searching. I rarely use Spotlight to search.

Just do a Finder search for files with that extension. Then select all the search results and drag them to whatever folder you choose.
