Long story but I purchased a Macbook used and would like to get it returned to the person whose apple ID is connected to the device. I can't see the whole email address. Is there anyway to find it from the serial number or another way?

Thank you

There’s no way to find this information. If it were easily available, it’d be a way for people who’ve stolen a device to fraudulently contact the owner and try to get them to enter a password.

I appreciate the response. I guess I'll work with my local police and see where I get.

Another stolen Macbook

Exactly. Another shady topic, where "new users" find some fishy excuse and inquire about bypassing Activation lock.

I'm not saying it is always the case, but this is another great example of how well Activation lock is implemented. It's always protecting the original owner of the device and doesn't really care about the some murky scenarios.

If it was a legitimate sale, previous owner will have an easy job deactivating the lock.

If it is anything else - you have a nice useless piece of metal and plastic.
