My version of MSN Messenger, 2.1 for OS 8.6 suddenly quit working after a reboot last week. The message I get says service is unavailable or I'm not on the Internet. I know another user has the same problem but Microsoft doesn't do support for this version. Anybody know how to remedy the problem.

MSN changed the protocol, and are dropping the old version. you HAVE to upgrade to the new version to continue using it.I know that GAIM etc have broken because of this. and I'm pretty sure GAIM doesn't work on OS 8/9 etc.

I just checked on the MSN site, and I couldn't find a verswion for OS 8. check http://messenger.msn.com/Mac/OS.aspx

Sorry :-(

thanks

That explains a lot. I appreciate your help. Maybe I'll have to get the boss to give me a newer OS! For purely professional reasons. . . :)
