i have 15.1gb worth of photos stored in iphoto. however, when i pull up my library in finder it shows 21.8gb. apparently this is because iphoto stores the original file in addition to the cropped/edited file. while i no longer do any cropping or anything like that in iphoto, up until last year i did.
so my question is, to 'get back' that extra 7gb of space, can i export the photos, delete my iphoto library, then import the photos back? or are the exported files still the same as the original?

thanks!

Some of that space is taken up by files that iPhoto needs in order to work. Yes, it does keep the originals so that you can always go back and start over if you want/need to.

You might try an app like iPhoto Diet. Lots of capabilities there. Just be sure to read the menus and make sure you understand what you are telling it to do.

i saw iphoto diet, but it seems like that's not leopard or iphoto 6 compatible?
