Hello all, I just wanted to ask a question about my G4 Sawtooth (AGP 400MHZ). So basically i bought this machine from my college, gutted it, and bought all brand new parts for it as it will be used for DV and HDV editing. I bought the ATI 9800 Pro, but I was told i needed a power supply above 300w to fully utilize the 9800. I called apple and though it got me really nowhere, I asked them if I could jst buy any apple power supply (from any G4) and they said it would work fine. Well digging on here (the net) I found out that my model mobo, only has a 20-pin connector for the power supply, and the next level up in PS is the 380w ps for the 'gigabit ethernet' model. This model was next in line after the sawtooth. Problem is, this model power supply has 22-pins for the mobo connector. I want to know if this new PS is compatible with my 20pin mobo ps connector. PLEASE HELP!! I'VE LOOKED EVERYWHERE AND CANT GET A DEFINITIVE ANSWER!! I JUST WANNA RUN THE 9800 AT TOP PERFORMANCE AND IF THAT MEANS A PS THEN FINE, BUT I NEED THE RIGHT ONE!!! ONE THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL THE POWER FOR BOARD AND THE CARD, ETC -- Dont care about price, I just want the correct ps for that specific model and the right ps connector. Will pluggin a 22 pin ps into a 20 pin ps connector be a problem? Will everyting work ok? I just really wanna find the right power supply if needed to make this graphcis card work perfectly. Please fellow mac-heads, help me out and give me the correct answers to my questions. Thank you all and I look forward to your responses.
