I uninstalled the most recent version of itunes for OSX Snow Leopard as per the apple support page.

I then downloaded 9.1.1 and installed, but when I open it says "The file "iTunes Library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

The uninstall was supposed to be complete, and I even deleted the other items that "may" be required to remove.

What else has to come out, and where can I find it?

(all this to prevent an automatic update from a restore.--> iTunes 9.2 seems to only give a "restore and update" option, not just a restore. (or did they always do this?...)

In the past when I have downgraded iTunes, I dragged/copied all my ringtones, music, movies, etc into a folder on the desktop, then trashed EVERYTHING iTunes from the Mac. I installed the lower version iTunes, imported all the ringtones, music, movies back and it fired right up.

The key is to get everything iTunes into the trash.
