I am trying to get my Mac visible on my local area network which has several windows PCs and a WD mybook 1TB Drive so I can back up the Mac Hard Drive on the mybook. I can;t get the Mac to be visible on my network.

Thanks

Did you go to System Preferences and "Sharing"? Check out those settings, see if you're sharing anything as of yet .

are you connected via wifi or ethernet?

depending on the type of connection is how you must setup the mac and the router to be viewable and access your drive

Jessica and Tomahawk - Thanks for your replies... I did set all my files for sharing. The Mac is connected to the router via ethernet cable

still can not get my Mac visible on my LAN

I am stumped....... I have my Mac connected to my LAN via ethernet cable and I can get on the Internet with the Mac via the LAN, but I can not see the Mac on the LAN from the windows PCs on the LAN (even though file sharing has been set) and I can not back up the Mac on the Western Digital My Book World Edition WDG1NC10000N 1TB Home Network Storage drive that I have added to the LAN.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
