Hey I just got a new keyboard from a friend, the Yamaha PSR290. It has a Midi in and out to USB which goes into your computer. I have it set up right, but I can't seem to get it to work in GarageBand. Is there a special MIDI track I need in GarageBand? I'm surprised this doesn't work, since everything else on my Mac has been 'plug and play'.

Methinks all you need is the driver . After installing it, you can verify it's settings by veiwing configuration in the ~Applications:Utilities:Audio Midi Setup

I installed that... and it shows up in my MIDI Devices. Heres a snapshot:

So you got any ideas? Maybe a computer restart?

Yes, you will need to restart and if your computer ever goes to sleep you will also have to restart it to recognize the device.

I'm still having problems. It seems like my Mac recognizes the Keyboard. When I plug the USB in, garageband says: "The Number of MIDI inputs has changed. Now one input is available. But when I play notes, nothing registers in GarageBand. What should I do now?
