Hi,

I recently scored two Dual 2.0ghz Power Mac G5 machines with hopes of getting one working.
I replaced the PMU battery as it was dead & cleaned everything up. At first there was no chime but after re-seating the RAM i get a Chime, the display detects signal for a second (No picture) & then loses signal & the machine just hangs. The power button light stays solid & there is a red light near the upper set of rams.

I only have one video card for it & i cleaned\reseated it. I also re-seated the CPU's...

Any advice ?

I would get a hold of another video card to test with. I THINK (not positive) that those G5s have a red light on all the time when powered on. I'm pretty sure mine does and it works fine.
You can get a geforce 5200 very cheap for a G5. Not a very good card for anything but for daily use its fine. As a testing card it would be perfect. I think radeon 9600s are fairly cheap as well.

If they are Late 2005, dual-core G5s, they will momentarily flash a red light each time they are turned on, turned off, put to, or waking up from sleep.

Is the red light constant, or is it a momentary flash when doing the above events?

You can identify a Late 2005 G5 from an earlier model by looking at the back. If there is a gray plastic strip on the left side of its back, it is a Late '05 dual-core model that utilizes PCI Express slots, in which case the 5200 and 9600 will not work as they are AGP-based. With that in mind, here is the cheapest PCIe graphics card option for these models.
