Please Help. Ive searched through the forums for days & cannot find the correct answer.I have an early 2011 MBP 13". It originally came with SL. I have misplaced the original disks. My hard drive recently failed. I purchased and installed a new blank one. I obtained a DVD copy of Lion ( which did work installing on another laptop), I get to the installer but it will not install. I went to disk utility & formatted the HD - extended journaled. When i go back to the main screen & click instal Lion,I get the spinning Beach-ball, it stops & nothing happens. any ideas? Any help is appreciated? Thank you

A 2011 MBP should be able to boot to recovery even with a blank drive and no install DVD (assuming you have applied firmware updates).

Try taking out the Lion DVD and just press command-r when you boot. That should get you to a recovery screen. From there you can use Disk Util to format and then install the OS. Lion will be downloaded over the Internet from Apple's servers.

Weaselboy,
Thank you very much! It's installing right now. Thank you again!!!!!
