Long story short, I had to erase my hard drive and reinstall OS X. All of my stuff was backed up on time capsule, so the first thing I chose to restore was my documents folder. (I didn't want to restore the entire system because that would just put back on all of the problems I was having).

Anyway, since I clicked 'replace' to restore my documents, I no longer have a 'real' documents folder, with the actual folder icons. Right now it's still in the process of transferring, so I didn't have a chance to restart yet, but how to I get a 'real' documents folder back without just replacing the icons?

I tried renaming the folder I'm in the middle of transferring and creating a new folder named documents in my home folder but that didn't seem to work. Any ideas?
