I know this is probably obvious, but:

How do you set up iTunes to sync just a few playlists of music to your iPhone?

I'm a user of Apple Music and iTunes Match (could these services be interfering with this?)

That's how I used to do it...but when I go there now all I see is:
"iCloud Music Library is On
iPhone can access your iCloud Music Library. Songs can be downloaded and played via Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
(unchecked checkbox)Sync voice memos(menu)"

There are no options there anymore to do that!

When I go to the music section under "On My Device" there is just a big list of the songs, but there seems to be no way to just add or remove a playlist.

Why aren't the normal options you mention appearing!?

Is this an Apple Music or iTunes Match thing?

Edit: Do you mean I should be turning off iCloud Music Library?

Yes, you have to turn off iCloud Music Library before you see the option to sync individual playlists.

thanks..I see..

So, is the only way to do this (while keeping Apple Music offline access through the cloud functionality) to just add the premade playlist from the device? (add the playlists via the built in Music app interface on the iPhone "manually")

Will the playlists at least automatically update on the device when I change them from the "master" computer?
