HELP! How to get text bootloader to show??

I wanted to follow this guide to flash my x1900 card, so i did everything as instructed, but when I booted with the new card, no text bootloader was shown! How do I get the bootloader to show?

I see mentions of a "C:" drive. Sounds like Windows to me even though the site does point out a Mac Pro. Not to mention the post was originally from over a year ago.
