Hi

i am replacing the HD in a 17" powerbook g4

i have the keyboard off and need to remove the sound & hd cable.
does one need to pull straight up or slide left or right with them?

the sound ribbon to the left of the hd came up easily but the sound ribbon above and to the right of the hd does not look to lift up and i have tried sliding but no luck yet.

curious to see if someone that has been successful have a trick to it.
don't want to keep messing as these are not my machines and even if they were i would not like the expense and time that it will take to make things right if i do bust something.

i have tried:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/PowerBook-G4-Al-17-Inch/HD-Replacement/55/6/Page-6/Hard-Drive
&
http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Manuals/17-inch-powerbook-manual.pdf

both are good but not as specific as they could be about issues like this.

thanks in advance :)

RE: HELP! How to remove Sound & HD cable??

thanks for the suggestion

checked out what the "g4 powerbook" had to offer in the way of tech vids and it did not have any info on these specifics.
it showed only the 15" model (even though it says "G4 PowerBook 'Titanium' (all models)" but that was almost no help at all from what else is out there.

interesting "the manuals" had even less info then the vids.

great site (i order numerous products from them. nice to know they have some knowledge base for public use)

thanks, ill keep looking
cheers :)

RE: HELP! How to remove Sound & HD cable??

Ok well i kept looking and fiddling with the ribbons on the logic board.
it paid off

both are to be pulled up, cautiously of course.

now to put everything back together
fun :)
