HELP: How to set Quicktime 7.4.1 to "Safe Mode"

How do i set Quicktime 7.4.1 to "Safe Mode?" Because every time i play a video on quicktime, i can here the audio, but all i see is a white screen. Putting it to "safe mode" would fix this.

Perian is a free, open source QuickTime component that adds native support for many popular video formats.

I thought it would be a little self explanatory. It sounds like you don't have the proper video codecs for playback in Quicktime.
