Help! How to unlock iphone 3G OS 4.0.2? PLZ HELP

Hi, as some of you guys know, i just recently brought a iphone 3G and its stuck on the apple logo loop page. As i give up on trying to do anything. I will go ahead and upgrade to OS 4.0.2. But how can i unlock it?? I heard ppl saying about redSn0w, can someone please give me details, like step by step Please, this is my first iphone so i dont know anything.
