I have a 2008 Macbook Pro Model. I do not have the exact specs with me at the moment but I will be willing to post it later if anyone needs it.

I can hear the start up sound but the screen is completely black. There is no chime and nothing else on the screen. I have read that some of the 2008 models have had graphic card problems with the GT 8600 Nvidia models, however, it has been almost 4 years since I bought my mac.

Can anyone provide any advice on how to fix this? Or can anyone confirm that it is the graphics card? :(

Is it the Mac on the left or right?

If it is the left one:
MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues

Have you tried any of these steps?

It is the one on the left. It was the last few models right before the new Macbook Pros came out. I have yet to try those, but I will as soon as I can.

Also, I have also tried using an external screen, but the screen is also black. Hope that helps

Then the logic board is probably fried. Contact Apple and see, if they can help you, as it probably is an issue with the GPU.
