Hi everyone,

So I am working in CS6, but my co-worker is using CC. I originally noticed that, when I opened her CC SVG files, I got the following error: 'The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [PGFp]'

I decided to update my CS6, and she, in turn, updated CC. The update worked, and I was then able to open the CC files.

However, recently, the problem has come up again. We each ran some new updates... but the problem still persists. I was able to actually open this one file that she re-saved after updating, but no other files she re-saved were able to open on CS6.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? We have already updated today (Keep in mind that it's July 13, 2015, and the update that apparently fixed this was rolled out in January). Please don't ask me why I don't (want to) have CC.

-Thanks

I've never had a problem opening CS6 .ai files in CC. You might try opening the file in Photoshop first and saving it as a .jpg file before opening it in Illustrator CS6. Not sure if that would help.

But FYI, if you're having a problem with InDesign, have the other person export the file as "InDesignMarkupLanguage." Then you should be able to open it and save it in InDesign CS6.

I am guessing you will get far more technical responses in an Adobe forum or one specific to Illustrator.

there's no way around it other than to have your co-worker save everything down to CS6.

Yup, this is probably the issue.

It's a FOL that older versions of an app, AI/CS6 in this case, have difficulties opening files created in a newer version, AI/CC2015 in this case.

@OP: BTW, SVG are not "Illustrator files" even though your issue may be with "SVG files created in Illustrator". Illustrator files are "AI" files, though the FOL, above, still applies.

how are you doing now? is the co-worker remembering to downsave everything? lol
