HELP... i don't know what i just did

I've been cleaning up my mac, sorting old files, etc...

And I changed the "master" icon in the side bar to another name.

now when I logged in, still as the same user (only one on this mac) everything was defaulted, and now all my files are in Macintosh HD > Users

I'm not sure what I did, I'm wondering if I should just drag my old files into this new one ... however in the sidebar theres only desktop, master, applications, and pictures... (no movies, or music folders) how can I get these back? or should I just back up my files, reformat and start fresh...

You changed the name of your home folder.

Did you rename the Home folder? You might want to give this a read.
