ok, for Christmas i got an ibook clamshell running on 10.3.9 and I have 120 dollors and im going to the apple store what should I get?

If your iBook is fast enough to handle Leopard, get it! Otherwise get a used Tiger from somewhere and save the rest of the money. Alternatively you could pump it into the stock market :-D

Like the other poster said, get leopard.
If it doesn't have enough ram to run Leopard, buy ram.
And an external hard drive if this is your primary computer.

im gonna get an external hard drive

You welcome.
If you computer can't run Leopard and you don't want to buy some ram maybe you can go to the Apple Store and check if they happen to have any copies Tiger.

And congratulations on your new computer.
Is this your first Mac?

Waitasecond. A clamshell model? Those babies won't handle Leopard, and will only handle Tiger if you have a FireWire model. Even if it can handle Tiger, I'm not sure I'd put it on there - it would probably be very slow, almost unbearable to use. I'd keep it right where it is operating-system wise.

I would see if they can get you another AC adapter, just as a backup, especially considering that my own adapter that would go with a clamshell iBook recently started fraying and sparking. They're not very durable, so you may want to get another if you can.

Beyond that, your best bet would be software. I'm not sure how much hardware you could ever get for a clamshell, simply because of their age - Apple quit selling those models a good seven years ago, at least.

thanks
