Help. I need to make a bootable CD off Panther/Tiger DVD

Guys, I know this is a 10.7 thread but

I need to make a bootable CD off either of my Panther DVD or Tiger DVD. It is for a 1st gen iBook G3 without firewire or a DVD player. CD only.

I never tried this before but it's incredibly dicey trying to make a set of bootable cds?

Is there anyone that has done this out there? The links out there are confusing. I just don't get why it's so hard, especially with Panther .

Is the iBook running anything which boots up? Mac OS X or OS 8/9?
