When I did a re-install of the OS, it showed that the HD was fine.
I did a clean re-install of the OS. It booted normally and showed
the desktop screen. When I went to open the applications folder,
THAT is when the ibook froze. The OS IS on the iBook's Hard
Drive. It just freezes during boot up now, the apple logo shows but nothing happens.

Any ideas?!

Hi,
make sure that the instaler DVD is not damaged, then that you have cleaned up the Hard Disk and formated it with the right format, and you follow the right steps in the whole processure..

You could install an update ex.10.4.6 or if this will not work, then reinstall the system
