I have it set on 1024 x 768 but the screen only displays the center 800 x 600 pixels - there is a black border around the screen now. When I change to 800 x 600 it displays on all pixels (full screen) but it is blury. I tried changing my display preferences and restarting. Someone please help me as I think I'm about to go blind.

Did you have it connected to a TV in mirrored mode? Sometimes this happens to me after I have disconnected the TV. I usually just have to detect displays or turn off mirroring.

I figured it out. When I would open the display preferences window a new window would open titled lcd display, but behind that was another window titled vga display. I had to set both to the 1024 res setting now I can see!
Thanks for all the prompt help.
