Looks like a flying scorpion......lol. You think you hate bumble bee's...... wait until the day scorpions sprout wings. Evolution...... that'll be fun.

So anyway what is this? It's sitting on my window blinds.

Honestly I thought a "moth" was a "moth" ... didn't know there were different varieties.

"Blinded Sphinx" moth. If you ever want a pet that looks like it came from the 3rd dimension of hell, this is your guy.

Oh, thanks! How did you find the name of it?

Anyway, thanks for posting this thread. I think that's one of only three threads I have subscribed to, just so I could know the answer. Pathetic, I know. But it looks so damn wierd!

Wow. That thing is incredible! Where do you live? Or at least what region are these "Blinded Sphinxes" native to?

Ha ha! Awesome. :)

I haven't researched their native status, but this one is in Chattanooga, TN. :)

tosser, lot's 'O google work.

Looks like a friggin' dragon . Candles can help you take care of that moth problem, they'll fly right through them and self-immolate (although I wouldn't be surprised if these were immune to fire).
